The novel acts as an expose, deploring European missionary work in Africa for its demoralizing effect on the indigenous population. Basis for the 1942 black and white film White Cargo directed by Richard Thorpe and starring Hedy Lamarr and Walter Pidgeon. This copy signed at ffep by Simonton and dated 1925, New York City. NF in VG dj, small chips at flap corners, small chip at mid front flap edge, few inch closed tear at mid-spine mended at verso with archival tape. Scarce.
